It’s finally spring!

It’s spring! It’s finally spring!

There’s something about a new season that signals to me that it’s time to think about my intentions for the next few months. I also really enjoy the beginning of a new month. I’m really not that into the beginning of a new year though. I think because for so many it signals a time to set resolutions, and those resolutions are often poorly thought out, impulsive, vague, and soon broken. If I haven’t thought about my year ahead until January 1st, I think I’m doing something wrong.

But I digress.

My point is, you can have a new beginning at any time you choose. You don’t have to wait for a new year, a new season, a new month, or even a new week.

However, I am very excited for spring. I’ve had a somewhat tough winter. Lots of emotional stuff to work through, as well as the lack of sun for months, I’ve been a bit sore and achey, and in general I’m just happy to put winter behind me.

Spring feels like a chance to allow real joy back into my life. The court case I’m involved in has been adjourned until January, so I have no choice but to leave it behind for awhile. The emotions brought out by that issue are slowly subsiding, and I’m beginning to feel like my true self again. I’ve got some exciting plans and goals for the next few months, and it feels like I’m waking up after hibernating.

Don’t get me wrong—it’s important to have those down times, and to give yourself time to recover when things are tough. But it’s equally important to remember during those times that they won’t last forever—that there is sunshine around the corner.
